Philosophy On Discipline
My philosophy is that you use discipline in a positive way to teach a child. I achieve this through love,
consistency, and firmness. The children are explained the rules of the daycare frequently so that they know the guidelines. Once a child understands the rules and disobeys them, hurts others or property, the following developmentally appropriate guidance techniques will be used.
These techniques are as follows:
1. Positive Reinforcement: The child will be encouraged when he[Hidden]she is demonstrating acceptable behavior.
2. Redirection: The child is redirected to another activity and given an opportunity to try again at another time.
3. Time Out: The child is separated from the group for a child-regulated period of time. This technique is used only when a child is exhibiting temper tantrum type behavior or hurting self, others, or equipment. When the child shows that he[Hidden]she is ready to demonstrate acceptable behavior, they are encouranged to join the rest of the group and try again.
4. Last Resort: When a child's behavior is continually upsetting or dangerous to others, or myself a conference will be called with the parents. If the problems can't be resolved, arrangements will have to be made for the child to go elsewhere for care. *Sometimes, if both a parent and a provider are both in the same area (ex. drop-off, pick up, parties, etc.) a child may forget the rules, or test the boundaries. Please help show your child that you respect me, the rule of my house, and my property by reminding them that the rules still apply when you are around. I will also remind them of the rules and, correct them if needed.
Philosophy On Teaching
I believe my goal for quality child care is to provide your child with a safe, comfortable, clean, home-like environment that your child can grow in socially and intellectually. The children in our care will receive love, guidance, and understanding in a nurturing environment. Children learn best in a supportive atmosphere where self-esteem and respect is given. On a daily basis your child will learn patience, responsibility, and compassion. They will also express imagination as well as self-expression. We believe that through play, language, creative art, and most importantly fun, a child can express themselves which will lead them into a bright future.
As a Professional Provider, I feel that raising your child is a partnership. A good relationship between parents and provider will be enriching and rewarding for the growth and development of your child. In order to provide your child with the best possible care, the parents and the provider are encouraged to keep open lines of communication. Giving tender loving care to children of all ages is the focus of my child care service as well as making a safe environment where your child can learn, play and have fun. It is only through parent and provider cooperation that the goal of a quality, nurturing child care can be achieved.
Philosophy On Toilet-Training
Toilet Teaching is a task taken on when a child is showing signs of interest. It takes parent, provider and the child's attention and dedication to complete this task.

Description of Experience
I have many years of experience and education through the Office for Children training programs. Also, I am certified in CPR and first aid yearly. I am an active member of the Child Care Network of Kingstowne[Hidden]Franconia where provider's go to take the extra step to provide quality child care, and a member of the Va Alliance of Family Child Care. I also participate in the USDA food program and CCAR (child care resourse program).
